  • How to Set Up a Stud Gun for Welding Threaded Arc Studs with a Nelson NS40 Gun

WELDER BRANDS: This setup works for Nelson NS40 stud welder guns.

    ITEMS NEEDED:

STEP 1: Place the Arc Chuck into the Arc Gun Chuck Adaptor.  Hold the Arc Gun Chuck Adaptor and Arc Chuck in one hand and with the other hand lightly hammer or mallet the Arc Chuck to ensure it is seated properly.

STEP 2: Determine the size Nelson Style Arc Foot you need.

    • Stud Diameter 1/8" - 1/2": Small
    • Stud Diameter 5/8" - 3/4": Medium
    • Stud Diameter 7/8" - 1": Large

STEP 5: Determine the type of Nelson Style Arc Foot you need.  Use a Closed Foot for stud lengths of 2" and shorter.  For longer studs, use a Split foot to ease the loading of the stud into the gun.
