Stud Gun Setup Guide for refractory Arc Studs

Follow these step-by-step instructions to properly set up your stud gun to weld refractory drawn arc studs using a heavy and light duty stud guns. Refractory studs come in 1/4", 3/8" and 5/16" diameters.

This setup works for Truweld, Proweld, Midwest Fasteners, Erico, Nelson NS20 and Image welder guns.

STEP 1 - Insert Arc Chuck Adaptor (HD GUNS ONLY)

Insert the chuck adaptor into the connector stud.

STEP 2 - Insert the Y Anchor Chuck

Place the Arc Chuck Y Anchor into the Arc Gun Chuck Adaptor.  Seat the Arc Chuck Y Anchor so that the stud will be horizontal to the plane.  Hold the Arc Gun Chuck Adaptor and  in one hand and the Arc Chuck Y Anchor  with the other hand lightly hammer or mallet the  to ensure it is seated properly.

STEP 3 - Make Foot Assembly

Screw the 3/8" Arc Legs into the Refractory Ferrule Footplate .  Leave the screws loose until you make your final plunge adjustment.

STEP 4 - Add a Ferrule to the Footpiece

Insert a ferrule into the Refractory Ferrule Footpiece.

STEP 5 - Add the foot assembly to the gun

Insert a Refractory Stud in the Y Anchor Chuck.  Slide the foot assembly to set the plunge.  The plunge is the amount of the stud that sticks out past the ferrule grip not including the flux ball.

Stud Dia 1/4" Plunge = 1/4"

Stud Dia 3/16" Plunge = 5/16"

Stud Dia 5/16" Plunge = 3/8"
